SAGE is a student satellite team with the ambitious goal of launching the first CubeSat carrying human cells. The objective is to investigate how aging occurs differently in space compared to Earth. The team is dedicated to developing and testing a flight-ready spacecraft, learning about aerospace engineering along the way, and ultimately launching their contribution to space

The Position – Launcher Interface Engineer

As the Launcher Interface Engineer, you will design and manage the interface between the satellite and the launch vehicle. This includes both mechanical and electrical interfaces. A critical aspect of this role involves ensuring a reliable power supply for the payload (human cells) during launch. This requires developing a specialized umbilical solution in collaboration with the launch provider.

You will work closely with various subteams as part of the Systems Engineering Team and maintain regular communication with the launch provider to ensure successful integration.

What you should bring:
  • Ongoing studies in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Familiarity with power systems would be beneficial.
  • Creativity and technical expertise to design a state-of-the-art interface system that meets the unique requirements of the mission.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate across subteams and external partners.
Time Commitment: ca. 10 hours per week
