The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) is offering a position as Researcher in Computer Science and Data Engineering at the Institute for Information Systems and Networking (ISIN) of the Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI) in Lugano. Full-time employment rate: 100%. Entry into force: 1 September 2024 or date to be agreed.

Responsibilities and Activities
  • Contribute to the implementation of applied research projects in the fields of Information & Communication Technology (ICT) and Data Engineering, in collaboration with local companies.
  • Participate in competitive funding acquisition activities and drafting funding applications.
  • Actively contribute to the development of the Institute.
Requirements
Essentials
  • Master's degree in computer engineering or equivalent.
  • Proven skills in software engineering and application of software development methodologies.
  • Consolidated knowledge of the main languages, frameworks and tools for software development.
  • Good skills in data engineering, big data processing and applied data science.
  • In-depth knowledge of the main tools and languages ​​for training and optimizing machine learning models.
  • Excellent knowledge of English, spoken and written.
  • Good interpersonal skills, good organizational skills and a propensity for problem solving.
  • Good ability to work in heterogeneous work groups combined with the ability to manage problems independently.
Preferential
  • Expertise in computer vision and audio-video processing.
  • Expertise in cloud computing and distributed systems.
  • Expertise in developing virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality applications.
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken Italian.
  • Knowledge of a second national language.
  • Knowledge of the Swiss industrial context.
