As Director of Merchandising in the EMEA region, you will be the product expert in our management team, leading assortment and product strategy for all our channels, across DtC and wholesale. You will be leading a team of apparel and footwear merchandising and planning experts. You will identify regional commercial trends, conceptualize and prioritize product needs and work to implement them cross functionally. As a sportswear product enthusiast, you will drive the next level of consumer experience and growth for our brand.
Your mission
Lead the European product strategy, including European market feedback and directional input on range and product categories to the product management team, starting with season kick-off to post-season debrief
Work with category sales leads and product teams (apparel and footwear) on building regional and country-specific assortments based on the global range
Build and train a consumer centric mindset and assortment logic in our European DtC, marketing and sales teams, anchoring all channels in a consistent way of building assortments
– Champion the growth of On's performance apparel business by identifying the right commercial levers to acquire new On apparel fans across all our channels and implementing those levers together with the team
– Lead and translate market insights, feedback and regional needs during the product calendar to Global Product teams to inform the product line plan for future seasons.
– Advise global sales and product team on pricing pyramid for the European markets
– Contribute to a thorough seasonal forecasting process & lead de-brief to product team post sell-in
– Provide relevant market insights to the product team throughout the full development (category trend liaison with BD team, provide insights based on market reports)
– Define product and tech stories for the region to support sales and marketing team in sell-in
– Define competitor set for On shoe and apparel line to support sales team in positioning
– Handle SMU requests from A to Z in partnership with community sales lead and product team
Your story
– 10+ years' of experience in relevant merchandising or product management positions across regional and global teams
– 5+ years working for a global retailer with multiple commercial channels and you have a strong understanding of the sportswear landscape, consumers and channels selling running/training, outdoor and active-lifestyle shoes and apparel
– A conscious leader with the vision required to manage a team and design a function, you inspire the trust and respect of everyone around you – you have at least 3 years of experience building and managing high-performing teams and people leaders
– Experience driving vision and purpose for large audiences, creating organization-wide energy and optimism for the future, and articulating the vision in an influential manner
– Experience setting distribution and assortment strategy in new and current categories, aligning efforts across the company's goals and positioning the brand for durable growth, brand health & longevity
– Strategic, results-driven mindset with an ability to establish business metrics and specific knowledge in forecasting, retail math, and profitability metrics; and the ability to analyze data to determine how to push the business forward
– Experience in visual merchandising online and offline
– Strong team-player, keen to play a connector role between the regional and product teams
– Business proficiency in English, other European languages a plus
Meet the team
You will be part of the extended EMEA leadership team and work alongside the Head of Sales, Head of Marketing and Head of DtC ecom for the region, with a clear focus on product. Your future team will include apparel and footwear merchandising experts. As your work is strongly cross-functional in nature, you will also closely work with our Product Management teams, Product merchandising and Operations. The sales directors, marketing leads, key account managers, DtC leads and tech rep teams in the markets consider you a trusted and valuable advisor.
