We are on the lookout for a Strategic Buyer to join our team either in Geneva, IL or Gurnee, IL. Working under the guidance of the Industrial Purchasing Manager, this role involves overseeing procurement activities for Brand-new projects, large-scale facility extensions, and medium to large workshop improvement initiatives.

Additionally, the Strategic Buyer will play a key role in supporting our facilities in Iowa and Illinois by managing MRO contracts, on-site contractors, maintenance agreements, and spare parts contracts.

The responsibilities include sourcing quotes, negotiating contract terms, generating and processing purchase orders, addressing any commercial disputes, and nurturing supplier relationships in line with Roquette's procurement strategies. Effective cross-functional communication and collaboration are essential to ensure alignment with the plant's overall key performance indicators.

Within Functional area:

  • Act as the procurement expert for CAPEX projects, devising a robust purchasing project plan that reflects seamless coordination between internal stakeholders and vendors.
  • Implement efficient Purchasing Department policies and procedures in line with group category management policies.
  • Maintain open communication and coordination with company personnel and management.
  • Ensure the streamlined and cost-effective management of Purchasing functions.

Cross-Functional:

  • Establish and manage local project contracts in compliance with legal and group category managers' directives.
  • Cultivate strong business relationships with vendors, suppliers, contractors, consultants, and industry professionals, including regular KPI reviews.
  • Ensure risk management through the creation, approval, and archiving of necessary agreements.
  • Develop and oversee procurement programs for equipment and labor for capital projects in alignment with domestic and global objectives.

Key activities

  • Efficiently procure goods and services in a cost-effective manner.
  • Assist requesters in defining their needs.
  • Handle Purchase Requisitions by ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage Purchase Orders collaboratively with the Procurement team.
  • Monitor lead times and address any issues with suppliers promptly.
  • Oversee Project procurement plans and MRO expenditure.
  • Utilize historical and benchmarking data for competitive pricing.
  • Engage with suppliers to resolve discrepancies and negotiate terms.
  • Cultivate strategic relationships with key domestic and international suppliers.
  • Identify new suppliers to meet project requirements.
  • Assess and negotiate various agreements like Master Service Agreements (MSAs) and Long Term Agreements (LTAs).

Key Competencies:

  • Demonstrated ability to handle purchasing contracts up to USD.
  • Vendor prequalification and qualification as per Roquette Policy.
  • Lead contract signings with authorized Roquette representatives.
  • Participate in the Award process committee.
  • Represent the purchasing function in the investment committee.
