ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT


The Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) is responsible for the organization and coordination of the work of the Telecommunication Development Sector (ITU-D) of the Union which deals mainly with ICT-focused development policies, strategies and programmes, as well as technical cooperation activities, to promote digital inclusion and drive digital transformation at community, country and regional levels.

To effectively and efficiently serve the needs of ITU members,
BDT is organized into four functional areas:

  • Office of the Deputy to the Director and Field Operations Coordination Department
  • Partnerships for Digital Development Department
  • Digital Networks & Society Department
  • Digital Knowledge Hub Department

TERMS OF REFERENCE:

Under the direction of the Senior Coordinator Digital Inclusion, to support the implementation of the activities for the EQUALS Her Digital Skills initiative, the consultant will:

  • Oversee all EQUALS HDS member assignments, monitor key deadlines, organize weekly calls (scheduling, taking minutes, and follow-ups).
  • Manage all external and internal program commitments, including deadlines, stakeholders management, and other related tasks.
  • Coordinate activities needed before, during and after the EQUALS Her Digital Skills Workshops and Career Webinars, including logístical aspects with local partners, regional offices, and speakers (arrange meetings, conduct briefing meetings, note taking, workshops' implementation support and followup reminders).
  • Supervise the HDS eMentoring Programme: coordinate the recruitment and onboarding of the mentors for the EQUALS HDS ementoring; coordinate the recruitment of the mentees, liaise with local field partners as necessary; conduct briefing webinars; and supervise the online coordinators.
  • Run impact reporting for the EQUALS HDS Workshops and eMentoring Programme and manage general oversight of the overall impact data reporting.
  • Liaise with and coordinate with speakers, mentors, mentees and volunteers assigned to support the various EQUALS HDS activities (schedule and run briefing calls, answer offline queries and provide overall assistance).
  • Schedule meetings with EQUALS HDS beneficiaries to better capture the impact of EQUALS HDS through Success Stories.
  • Maintain and update the EQUALS Her Digital Skills database.
  • Support EQUALS HDS cofounders with EQUALS GTDSE framework's testing, validation and impact assessment strategy.
  • Support EQUALS HDS cofounders with EQUALS Badges global rollout strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage the EQUALS HDS initiative among partners of the EQUALS Global Partnership.

  • HDS Workshops and Career Webinars organized and delivered.
  • HDS eMentoring Programme organized and supervised.
  • Impact reporting for EQUALS HDS workshops and ementoring delivered.
  • The EQUALS HDS database maintained and updated.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Superlative communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent research, analysis and summarizing skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher).
  • Strong organizational and collaborative skills: ability to take initiative, selfprioritize and work on multiple projects.
  • Experience in working with different external stakeholders of varying levels of seniority.
