Main goal
The Event Legal Services Lawyer advises on general legal matters, drafts, reviews, negotiates and advises on
contracts for hosting and staging UEFA’s events and competitions.
In particular, the Event Legal Services Lawyer provides legal support and advice on any legal matters under
English (including devolved matters) and Irish law and assistance in relation to contractual, procedural,
administrative, corporate or social matters for UEFA EURO 2028.
This role sits within the Event Legal Services unit and reports to the Head of Event Legal Services. The unit’s
responsibility includes the following:

  • Bidding process and staging arrangements with event and competition hosts
  • Procurement of goods and services for events and competitions
  • Ticketing and hospitality
  • Accommodation and training ground matters
  • Overall legal compliance of UEFA events and competitions, including provision of on-site legal support

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will be able to provide support in all areas handled by the unit.
Key responsibilities

  • Providing general support and assistance to UEFA’s internal operational units on legal topics in relation to all of

UEFA’s events and competitions, with a particular focus on UEFA EURO 2028;

  • Drafting, negotiating and executing contracts based on established templates relating to the procurement of

goods and services for UEFA’s events;

  • Advising internal clients in the event of disputes with service providers, including advice on the contractual

position and commercially suitable responses;

  • Engaging and supervising external counsel, if used for dedicated matters;
  • Ensuring accurate contract management tracking and recording procedures are applied and followed;
  • Keeping contract templates under review to ensure compliance with internationally accepted contractual

standards;

  • Advising on legal matters relating to UEFA EURO 2028 topics, including ticketing, venue management,

transport, volunteers, taxes, insurances, employment, social security, etc.;

  • Monitoring proposed operational plans with local legislation in order to ensure compliance;
  • Providing assistance in all areas of the Event Legal Services work, including reviewing and drafting the bidding

and staging documentation, assisting with ticketing terms and conditions and the related documentation, and
ensuring that local laws applicable to the hosting of UEFA’s events and competitions are known and complied
with.
Profile
Experience required:

  • At least 3–5 years post-qualification experience at a law firm or in-house legal division with exposure to a range

of commercial contracts

  • Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements independently
  • No previous experience in sport is necessary

Education:

  • Law degree or relevant law conversion qualification
  • Post-qualification diploma in legal practice (UK) or bar qualification (other nationalities)
  • Swiss legal qualification or knowledge/experience of Swiss law would be a plus due to the governing law of

UEFA’s contracts
Languages:

  • English / Proficient
  • Any additional language would be an advantage
