DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
To support the global initiative on the prevention and control of CVD and represent WHO in global fora on CVD prevention and control. To develop/adapt evidence-based strategies, guidelines and toolkits to assist Member States in the planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes for the detection and management of CVD using an integrated and public health approach. To coordinate with relevant WHO technical units and to guide the implementation of the global programme for CVD prevention and control in countries. To develop, expand and sustain international partnerships on CVD. To provide technical advice and support to countries on CVD prevention and management - in close collaboration with WHO Regional and Country Offices. To support the development of advocacy and communications products on CVD. To support and strengthen WHO's work on access to essential quality medicine and technologies relevant to CVD management. To manage budgets and develop project proposals. Take the HQ lead in the development of regional and country capacity building efforts on prevention and management of CVD in the context of NCD prevention and control efforts. To conduct other activities as requested.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential :
A university degree in medicine with an advanced level degree in internal medicine, cardiology or public health.Desirable :
A PhD in public health
Experience
Essential :
At least 7 years of relevant experience in health systems or public health related to CVD prevention and control. At 3 years of evident international work exposure. At least 10 publications on CVD in peer-reviewed journals.
Desirable :
Skills
Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Able to coordinate, plan and implement projects and activities with minimum supervision but work equally well as part of a team. Manage and expand global partnerships and programme implementation in countries through partners.
