DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Guide on the strategic direction of WHO Global Diabetes Compact. Assist the WHO to provide support to Member States expressed in the WHA resolutions on diabetes, across the continuum of diabetes care from early detection to management of complications. Liaise with and utilize partnerships in other UN Agencies, donors, non-state actors, research institutions and people with lived experience of diabetes to position the technical area of work of the Global Diabetes Compact. Provide regional and country support as part of the 3 levels coordination for the implementation of Global Diabetes Compact. Provide global strategic and technical leadership and coordination of the Global Diabetes Compact, including development of diabetes related Technical Products (norms and standards, data and research related technical products). Facilitate cross-cutting collaborations on diabetes related technical products across units and departments within WHO. Perform all other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience
Essential:
At least 7 years of clinical experience in the clinical management of diabetes or endocrine conditions. At least 3 years of evident international work exposure in public health programmes for prevention and control of diabetes. At least 10 publications in peer-reviewed journals in the field of diabetes.Desirable:
At least 2 years of professional experience with multilateral, international or UN organizations. Experience with development of guidelines at international levels. Experience with diabetes programmes in low- and middle-income settings. Experience with data analyses and evidence appraisal.Skills
Broad knowledge of principles and practice of public health and substantial knowledge of all aspects of diabetes prevention and management. Ability to engage and communicate effectively and diplomatically with external partners including Ministries of Health, Donor institutions, Civil Society, and other stakeholders. Commitment to collaborate effectively with other key partners in the diabetes area. Ability to coordinate and provide technical input to internal stakeholders in the area of diabetes. Good understanding of primary, secondary and tertiary health services for NCD management.
