Tasks

The successful candidate will have the exciting opportunity to work in collaboration with an experienced cross-functional team and external partners to advance small molecules targeting RNA for multiple indications. They will perform both basic and specialized molecular biology and biochemical techniques, as well as cell-based assays and compound testing. The candidate will be involved in establishing, maintaining and improving cutting-edge technology in a multidisciplinary environment, and will have the opportunity to support multiple stages of drug discovery, from early target assessment and /discovery to lead optimization. They will actively contribute to the innovative, open, and supportive culture at Skyhawk, and will be part of a dynamic team focused on delivering transformative therapies to patients.

  • In close collaboration with biology group leaders and scientists, design, develop, execute and analyze a variety of experiments, including but not limited to:
    - RNA/DNA isolation, electrophoresis, library preparation and sequencing
    (MiniSeq), RT-qPCR for analysis of gene expression and detection of splice
    variants;
    - Mammalian cell culture (including primary lines and iPSCs), transfection, viral
    transduction, generation of stable cell lines;
    - Cell-based assays including luminescence/fluorescence reporter assays, imaging,
    Flow cytometry, proliferation and viability assays and others;
  • Design, build, and automate protocols for use in molecular biology, genomics, next generation sequencing and cell biology applications
  • Establish new workflows and help improve efficiency in existing processes
  • Record all data and results in ELN with accuracy and responsibility in a timely manner
  • Analyze and interpret results from a variety of readouts, including DNA/RNA sequencing
  • Prepare presentations and efficiently discuss results at internal and external meetings
  • Perform and interpret database and scientific literature searches
Requirements
  • Minimum of Master degree with at least 5 years industrial experience or Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genomics or equivalent with in depth knowledge of RNA splicing biology strongly preferred
  • Excellent understanding of molecular biology and cellular assays is required, including design of tools (e.g., qPCR primers, splicing minigenes) and data analysis (e.g., sequence alignments). Experience generating samples and analyzing and interpreting NGS data is highly preferred
  • Solid experience with neuroscience or oncology and/or immunology assays and biology
  • Experience with preparing and presenting data summaries and progress reports in group meetings
  • Ability to think critically and manage tight deadlines. Excellent planning and organizational skills, ability to adjust plans according to priorities, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and set priorities
  • Flexible, efficient and able to work independently and proactively with a problem-solving attitude
  • Ability to deliver and thrive in a timeline-driven, fast-paced biotech environment
  • Strong team player with a team-centered and positive attitude
  • Proficiency in MS Office package and GraphPad prism. Experience with other data analysis software and/or R programming are an asset
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
