Mechanical Engineering Intern

Join ONWARD Medical's mission to restore movement, independence, and health in people with spinal cord injury.
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will:
- Assist in developing mechanical components for implantable and external neurostimulation platforms under the guidance of senior engineering staff.
- Gain hands-on experience through independent design tasks and contribute to larger team-based development projects.
- Design and build test tools for characterization and design verification.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, firmware, human factors, and systems/therapy engineers, as well as quality assurance, clinical, and regulatory teams.
- Investigate, prototype, and analyze new features, design options, and mechanical subassemblies.
- Apply Design for Reliability & Manufacturing principles, including concept development, modeling & simulation, tolerance analysis, and stress analysis.
- Work within a regulated environment, learning and applying design control methods, standards, and formal review processes.
Required Competencies:
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated hands-on engineering experience through internships, student projects, or extracurricular activities.
Language Requirements:
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
Other Requirements:
- Applicants must already hold a valid Swiss work/student permit or be eligible to work in Switzerland (Swiss or EU/EFTA citizenship)
