Voltiris is an award-winning company with offices in Lausanne (Switzerland) and The Hague (Netherlands), developing solar energy solutions for the greenhouse sector.

We are looking for a
hands-on Mechanical Engineering Intern
to support the development and validation of the next generation of Voltiris components. You will prototype new mechanical concepts, create CAD models, and execute structured test campaigns to evaluate cost-reduction and performance improvements.

This role is ideal for someone who loves turning ideas into real, tested hardware.

The position is located in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Key responsibilities

  • Prototype
    new mechanical concepts
    (tracking, reflector geometries, structural components).
  • Build and assemble physical prototypes using in-house equipment and supplier components.
  • Create
    CAD models and technical drawings
    (SolidWorks / Fusion / Onshape).
  • Design and execute
    structured validation plans
    : testing, data collection, reporting.
  • Support early industrialisation work (DFM, assembly simplification, material optimisation).
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and suppliers to iterate on new designs.

Requirements

  • Master's student
    in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering, Mechatronics or similar.
  • Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor or Onshape).
  • Passion for
    hands-on prototyping, testing and iteration
    .
  • Understanding of basic mechanical systems, tolerances and manufacturing processes.
  • Independent, structured, and curious mindset.

What you will learn

  • Moving from concept → prototype → validation.
  • How start-ups run fast mechanical development cycles.
  • Design-for-manufacture across stamping, roll-forming, injection, etc.
  • Working with suppliers and preparing industrialisation packages.
