Application Support Specialist – Refinery Operations

We are looking for an experienced
Application Support Specialist
to support mission-critical
Refinery Operations, MES
, and
Production Scheduling
applications. This role ensures high availability, reliability, and seamless operation of systems used across planning, scheduling, logistics, and operations environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Support & Monitoring

  • Perform daily system monitoring, data interface checks, job status tracking, and verification of server/resource availability.
  • Troubleshoot and triage L2/L2.5 incidents across refinery applications.
  • Conduct controlled data fixes and perform detailed log/SQL analysis to restore functionality.
  • Maintain operational runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge base documentation.

Application & Workflow Support

Support and resolve issues for the following (or similar) applications:

  • GRTMPS (Haverly)
    – refinery scheduling/lifting workflows, SQL/log review
  • Flowers / Princeps
    – refinery scheduling and planning support, change control
  • Loading Menu / Queueing Systems
    – queueing operations, job monitoring
  • Minova TTA
    – truck/train workflows, data reconciliation
  • DACO Systems
    – VAT/export workflows, interface troubleshooting
  • TIPS
    – train planning integrations, JDE read/write activities
  • BI – Railcar Tracking
    – dashboard troubleshooting, data integrity checks
  • ByPass Manager
    – bypass/permit workflows, safety-aware change windows
  • E-Permit
    – permit tracking, workflow configuration, audit trail
  • Rapport Consignes
    – operations reporting, UI support
  • SuiviBacsDrainage
    – tank monitoring UI, data checks, basic SQL

ITIL & Change Management

  • Work within
    ServiceNow
    for Incident, Service Request, Change, and Knowledge Management.
  • Coordinate change activities, release cycles, and cutover support with refinery operations teams.
  • Uphold SLAs, track MTTR, and ensure timely communication with stakeholders.

Technical Skills & Automation

  • Conduct SQL queries, log analysis, and basic troubleshooting across application layers.
  • Use
    PowerShell/Python
    for health checks, automation scripts, and data validations.
  • Support minor configurations, functional testing, and release deployments.
  • Familiarity with cloud-hosted environments (Azure/AWS desirable).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or similar field.
  • Hands-on experience supporting
    MES, refinery, or manufacturing operations applications
    .
  • Strong understanding of
    ITIL v4 practices
    and operational support workflows.
  • Solid SQL skills, log analysis experience, and basic scripting capabilities.
  • Ability to work in operations-focused environments with clear, concise communication.
  • Experience collaborating with operations teams, planners, schedulers, and business stakeholders.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior exposure to
    refinery planning & scheduling systems
    (GRTMPS, Princeps, Haverly tools).
  • Experience with logistics applications (railcar, truck, tank, or permit systems).
  • Understanding of integration concepts (interfaces, queues, batch jobs).
