About

Balmo is an early-stage healthtech startup tackling a massively under-served problem in a multi-billion-euro category: chronic dry mouth (xerostomia). We are launching a novel oral gel designed to provide long-lasting relief for millions of patients worldwide and are bringing this solution to market as a regulated medical device.

Balmo is your chance to help build a MedTech startup from 0 to 1 in real time. You will work directly with the founders and see how medical insights turn into a regulated product, clinical adoption and a real business. We are early, fast and ambitious – you join exactly at the point where strategy, fundraising and execution all happen at once.

Your role

You act as a force multiplier for the founders on topics of highest strategic importance.

Strategy & market

  • Analyse the xerostomia market across segments (oncology, dental, OTC) in DACH and beyond
  • Map key competitors & adjacent solutions (value proposition, clinical claims, pricing, channels)

Go-to-market & internationalisation

  • Support the definition of our launch strategy: priority indications, countries and channels
  • Build a structured pipeline of target clinics, cancer centres, dentists and distribution partners

Business model design & pricing 

  • Research pricing benchmarks across clinics, pharmacies, online and international markets
  • Analyse reimbursement and access pathways (e.g. statutory vs. private insurance, self-pay)

Fundraising & investor work

  • Build and refine MedTech investor longlists (VCs, strategic investors) with a strong fit for Balmo
  • Help sharpen the pitch deck, support due diligence preparation and analyse term sheets

Depending on your strengths, we may add ad-hoc projects in operations and along the value chain

Your profile

  • High-performing student in Business, Economics, Life Sciences, Pharmacy or a related field
  • Strong analytical skills and structured thinking; very comfortable working with numbers
  • Very good skills in PowerPoint and Excel; you turn analysis into clear, concise presentations
  • Curious about using AI tools to speed up your work without switching off your brain
  • Languages: fluent in English; German is a strong plus (written and spoken)
  • Ideally first experience in consulting, investment banking, VC, MedTech or a startup
  • You enjoy taking ownership, moving topics forward independently and giving honest feedback to improve outcomes
  • You care about health and science and want your work to have a visible impact on patients' lives
