**PhD Assistantship in Early Modern English Literature**
**Your profile**: We are looking for a member of staff with an excellent MA degree in the field of English literature. You are well versed in English literature and cultural contexts (especially in Renaissance literature and early modern drama) and willing to conduct research framed by recent theoretical approaches in the field of early modern studies. You are keen to work in a team collaborating on research and teaching. You are proficient in verbal, written and interpersonal communication in English and have a competence in German or are eager to acquire a working knowledge of German within the first two years.
**What we offer**: We offer an assistant/PhD position with a workload of 60% (initially limited to a three-year period, with possible extension for up to 3 three years, salary according to canton regulations) in an internationally renowned, committed and collegial research team, which will support you in your independent research. The English Department offers an attractive, cooperative work environment with good infrastructure in an international, stimulating environment in central Zurich with full access to library services and IT facilities. You will be allocated a workspace in the department; the university's regulations allow staff to work from home for up to 40% of their weekly employment time.
