URPP Human Reproduction Reloaded | H2R_ **2 PhD positions in educational and family sociology (full doctorate) / SNF** **60 % **:The University Research Priority Program (URPP) "Human Reproduction Reloaded | H2R" explores the societal impacts and legal implications of human reproduction. This interdisciplinary positioned URPP brings together researchers from six faculties as well as from various disciplines from the humanities, social, medical and natural sciences. You will join a working group within this program, consisting of two senior researchers and two PhDs. We focus the on the value-related origins and the economic consequences of reproductive decisions. Both positions are located at Institute of Sociology, which is one of the leading empirically oriented institutes in Switzerland and Europe. For more information on the topic and the organization, see the following link: URPP **Your responsibilities**: Are internalized values formative for gendered educational decisions? What are the political foundations of leaky pipelines and maternal wage penalties? Our knowledge on such socially and politically pressing questions will be improved based on your research input. - You will conduct theoretically informed empirical research on the determinants of female career outcomes, family formation, and the division of labor within couples. - As a member of a small working group, you regularly discuss your work with your peers and your mentoring scientists. - Your position is devoted to produce a publication-based PhD-thesis. Some of these publications will be based on cooperative projects, some will rely on the development of an original research agenda - a process which is supported by your mentors. - You participate in the URPP's events and actively take advantage of the opportunities for interdisciplinary exchange and interfaculty networking. - There are no teaching commitments, but options for voluntary participation in the BA/MA programs in the social sciences exist. **Your profile**: - You have a master's degree in the social sciences, excellent writing skills, and a strong scientific interest in the origins of gendered career outcomes and divisions of labour within families. - You possess solid quantitative-empirical skills, have acquired statistical proficiency, and are able to independently perform data management and advanced analytical tasks using R or Stata.
