Head of Delivery and Operations

As we pass 1,000,000 genomic profiles analyzed and look to the future of our platform, we are now searching for a **Head of Delivery and Operations, R&D Platform **who will be the leader in the Tech team with end to end responsibility of SOPHiA’s R&D platform and environment. The R&D platform and environment powers 100 top of the line Bioinformaticians & Data Scientists that create bioinformatics algorithms, pipelines and AI/ML algorithms to analyze actionable patient data. **You will lead newly created team whose focus is to help the data science team achieve their best potential, productivity and creativity.** You will be responsible for improving an existing platform and creating a next generation platform that supports the entire data science lifecycle.** The position reports to the CTO.** Our mission is to bring data analytics solutions to market, to support healthcare professionals by maximizing the power of Data-Driven Medicine. You would be working closely with the functional leaders in Data Science to develop and enable the needed capabilities to power up their teams as a user group. The role is at our EMEA offices - HQ, Rolle, Switzerland **Requirements**: **RESPONSIBILITIES** For the Sophia R&D environment & Platform you are responsible and accountable for the following **Technology** & **Engineering Excellence** - Technology choices, Architecture, Design, and Code build and quality - Includes SOA, migration plan, etc. - Development Processes - Including architecture/design/code review process, unit/load/acceptance testing etc. - 24x7 Production Uptime - managing production infrastructure setup, scalability, redundancy, optimization, monitoring, security, etc. (includes setting up on call process where needed) - Own technology metrics like page load times, API latency, etc. - Publishing biz metrics that measures a team’s performance **People Management & Hiring** (Working with the Chapter leaders on these) - Team Structure & Resource Mix - Team Motivation, coaching & career growth - Defining the process, the competencies to evaluate, resume screening, interviewing, and debriefs. **Stakeholder Management & Queue Management/Prioritization** (Working with the Chapter leaders on these) - Point of contact for all stakeholders needs, queries, issues and timely acknowledgment and resolution of these including stakeholder communication - Track every stakeholder request (need, query, issue, etc.) in the appropriate tracker (prioritization sheet, JIRA, etc.) and keep them updated on the status - Own the prioritization process and team priorities including stakeholder requests, technology improvements, and production issues - Publish fortnightly/ monthly priorities **Project/Delivery Management** (Working with the Chapter leaders on these) - Estimation, resource assignments, scheduling (i.e., Scrum planning, execution, and retrospective) **Dependency & Risk Management** - Analyze any deviations from the plan and drive root-cause fix where applicable **Product Management **(Working with the Business & Product leaders. These are managed/championed by the product/ business team but Engineering is an important partner here) - Define the team's charter (why should the team exist?) - Understand the competitive landscape and devise a plan to stay ahead of it - Define micro and macro level metrics that this team will own - Set Metrics improvement goals and monitor/own progress against these - Conceive and drive innovative ideas to solve customer’s needs and create measurable business metrics impact. **REQUIREMENTS** - Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent professional experience - 7 - 10+ years’ experience in Software Engineering and Technology Management **Other Experience & Skills** - Experienced in platforms for in Advanced Analytics, AI/ML Ops, data management - Knowledge of digital healthcare, genomics and digital image analysis is a plus - Good knowledge of software engineering best-practices
