**Salary**: CHF 105,878 per annum. 37.5 hours work/week. 20 days annual leave, 14 days public holiday. 50% employer contribution to health and accident insurance and to a pension fund.

**About the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)**

The role of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is to advance the interests of Australia and Australians internationally. This involves strengthening Australia’s security, enhancing Australia’s prosperity, delivering an effective and high-quality overseas aid program and helping Australian travellers and Australians overseas.

The department provides foreign, trade and development policy advice to the Australian Government. DFAT also works with other Australian government agencies to drive coordination of Australia’s pursuit of global, regional and bilateral interests.

**About the Mission**

The Australian Permanent Missions to the United Nations and the World Trade Organization in Geneva pursue Australia’s interests in the United Nations and World Trade Organization through international diplomacy. The Australian Consulate-General in Geneva provides services to Australian citizens in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

**About the position**

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for providing modern, professional and effective Human Resources management for the Australian Permanent Mission and Consulate-General in Geneva. This includes providing a full-service HR function to several employee types, including for example Australian A-Based diplomatic staff and locally-engaged staff. The position also oversees high-level official and VIP visits to Geneva and a range of other general corporate enabling services. The position reports to the Consul-General who is the Head of Operations.

**The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to**:

- Advise on and ensure compliance with Swiss employment law, social insurances, welfare and taxation for Locally Engaged Staff (LES) and Head of Mission (HOM) and SES Domestic Staff
- Manage relationships and contracts with HR outsourced services, e.g. HOM and SES Domestic Staff
- Undertake salary calculations and entitlements processing for LES based in Geneva and Bern
- Oversee and administer operations and good governance of LES pension fund
- Manage and monitor LES attendance and leave in accordance with employment terms and conditions and relevant labour laws
- Provide advice and assistance to management on complex and sensitive HR matters
- Oversee LES recruitment and performance management processes in conjunction with regional HR hub/s
- Oversee and administer the Mission internship program
- Manage end-to-end employee lifecycle processes including on-boarding/de-boarding processes, contract management and be the main contact for all employee HR enquiries
- Manage and administer LES insurance contracts including claims processing tender and contract evaluation and relationship management.
- Oversee A-based staff HR and protocol processes, including providing backup services during team absences
- Oversee arrangements related to VIP visits to Switzerland, including logistics and other related arrangements.
- Manage HR data within the HR system and administer personnel files in the record management system.
- Supervise and manage a small team and provide backup support during leave and absences.

**Qualifications/Experience**
- Professional qualifications in Human Resources Management or related business field
- Experience working in HR of a minimum of 7 years
- Strong numerical skills and high level of accuracy
- Language skills: Fluent written and spoken English and French
- Highly organised, flexible, and adaptable
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, including an ability to work effectively with other members of a team
- Strong ability in using HR and related IT systems with a proficiency in Microsoft Excel

C. Strong knowledge and experience in Human Resources Management related to Swiss and/or Australian law.

E. Highly developed written and oral communication skills in English and French.
