Cat Model R&d Lead

SCOR Global Pricing & Modelling Team uses external and internally-developed models to assess our understanding of risk.

In this role, you will work with the Global Head Cat R&D and other regional heads to design, lead and undertake bespoke project work to further enhance our understanding / modelling of natural peril risks across all SCOR’s portfolios: that is, treaty, D&F, MGAs and business underwritten at Lloyd’s.
- Lead Cat Model Evaluation of new vendor models / model updates,
- Undertake research projects to address areas of vendor model uncertainty and limitations and help deepen our understanding of natural perils modelled,
- Lead studies on the impact of climate change on SCOR's view of risk,
- Develop new models by leveraging existing collaborative solutions, such as OasisLMF or GEM OpenQuake for instance, and
- Stay on top of the latest developments in the Nat Cat model universe, collaborating with academic and industry partners.
- Proven experience in Cat Modeling R&D
- Hands on experience using and building Nat Cat models
- Strong mathematical, statistical, and analytical skills
- Knowledge in computer programming (R, Python, SQL)
- Keen and outgoing with drive, curiosity and passion for research, but always striving to be commercially relevant to internal and external clients
- Excellent communicator and an effective collaborator

**Required Education**
- Master’s degree or PhD in natural scence/engineering/math or equivalent experience
