**Global Medical Affairs Head of Academic Innovation & Partnerships M/F/d**

**YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

The Global Medical Affairs (GMA) Head for Academic Innovation & Partnerships will lead the development and implementation of a company-wide strategic plan for academic innovation and partnerships in the field of Precision Oncology. This role will collaborate with R&D, BD&L, and across GMA and markets to identify, connect and partner with academic institutions working on potentially breakthrough research and technologies to complement Bayer internal research and external innovation efforts in Precision Oncology. This role will report to VP, Head of GMA Precision Oncology & Pipeline.

**Major Tasks**
- Collaborate across the organization to define academic innovation and partnerships strategy to ensure alignment with company goals and priorities
- Perform landscape analysis with a comprehensive mapping of academic institutions, their research potential, ongoing public-private relationships, and gap analysis to identify potential for differentiated partnerships
- Deeply understand the current research ecosystem and potential evolutions, and identify opportunities for new public-private programs and initiatives
- Identify and cultivate relationships with external partners, such as clinical and research experts and leaders from universities, cancer centers and research institutions.
- Leverage Bayer internal expertise and capabilities as to secure best-in-class partnerships, including via in-kind contributions as appropriate
- Act as Bayer primary scientific point of contact for key academic institutions, and represent the organization in external meetings and conferences related to academic innovation and partnerships
- Collaborate with Head of Cooperative Groups & Strategic Alliances to ensure full coordination of the external engagement strategy
- Collaborate with legal services and other functions to conduct governance and contracting processes, and develop relevant frameworks and internal processes, as appropriate
- Ensure plan delivery and manage budgets and milestones associated with external activities

**WHO YOU ARE**
- Doctorate in Science, M.D. or advanced scientific degree with at least 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industries, including Medical Affairs and/or business development or of extensive collaboration with the industry
- Deep understanding of R&D and BD processes and regulation, including public sector drug discovery and development
- Experience in oncology clinical and non-clinical research
- Strong knowledge of public-private partnerships
- Experience in academic alliance management highly preferred
- Track record of successfully contributing to and managing high-performance cross-functional matrix teams in a complex organization with mínimal direct supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal and project management skills,
- Leadership and entrepreneurial abilities
