Tasks

As the Director of Data Science & Engineering, you will be the technical mastermind orchestrating a scalable infrastructure, our data science efforts and a variety of digital products. Your primary focus will be on architecting and optimizing our data science processes, ensuring seamless collection, analysis, and interpretation of vast datasets for actionable insights.

**Your job duties and responsibilities include**:

- Collaborate with designers, product managers, and cross-functional teams in Switzerland and the US to translate data-driven insights into intuitive interfaces and deliver hyper-personalized customer journeys
- Lead the development and implementation of features that enhance the user experience and deliver superior value to our customers
- Design and implement a scalable and robust technical architecture emphasizing data science workflows, machine learning models, and AI algorithms
- Oversee the optimization of our data infrastructure, ensuring efficient data collection, storage, and processing while upholding security, and compliance standards
- Manage the team's budget, resources, and timelines to ensure timely delivery of high-quality work
- Implement stringent data security protocols, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, GDPR) and safeguarding customer data against internal and external threats
- Create visually appealing and intuitive data visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings and insights effectively
- Perform time series analysis on wearables data to extract meaningful information and derive actionable insights
- Recruit, mentor, lead, and guide a team of skilled data scientists, engineers and infrastructure experts, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, AI advancements, and technical excellence
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, translating business requirements into technical specifications, and effectively communicating complex technical concepts to stakeholders
- Stay ahead of emerging technologies, the latest healthcare trends, research advancements, AI technologies, and industry trends in data science and infrastructure, guiding the company's technical roadmap

**Requirements**:

- 6+ years of proven experience in senior technical leadership roles, with expertise in software and data engineering, AI, and healthcare data analysis, and experience of leading a team of data professionals
- Extensive experience in designing and implementing data strategies and a deep understanding of machine learning algorithms and AI technologies
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++
- Experience with healthcare standards and protocols (e.g., HL7, FHIR) is a significant plus
- Strong expertise in digital biomarkers field: time series analysis, particularly with wearables data and experience with database management systems, ETL processes, and data warehousing
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and CRM software (e.g. Salesforce)
- Exceptional problem-solving and leadership skills with a track record of leading high-performing technical teams
- Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively
- Deep understanding of data security standards, HIPAA, GDPR, and best practices for securing sensitive healthcare data
- Demonstrated ability to innovate in the field of data science, emphasizing early detection methodologies and predictive analytics
