- An unprecedented and exponentially growing amount of data flows within and across devices, organizations, and borders. At the same time, an array of complex architectural, literacy, regulatory and commercial barriers result in much of the data required to create economic value and tackle the world’s most pressing challenges remains locked up in public and private institutions.
- Realizing the vast potential of the data economy whilst addressing complex questions around safety, security, and benefit-sharing requires trusted insights and collaboration across business, government, and civil society. As part of a strategic effort to build an equitable data economy, the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution is recruiting a Strategic Integration Lead, Data Ecosystems.
- The Lead will grow and lead an ambitious portfolio of communities and initiatives, mobilize business leaders, experts from the world's top research universities, government officials, start-up entrepreneurs, media, and civil society organizations to drive strategic insights and tangible solutions.
- The Lead will collaborate closely with other related centres of excellence at the World Economic Forum, such as the Digital Economy Platform and the Centre for Cybersecurity, as well as with the Forum’s global network of Independent Fourth Industrial Revolution Centres which build on, benefit from, and actively contribute to the Centre’s global initiatives.
- Reporting Lines & Interactions
- The Lead, Data Ecosystems reports to the Forum’s Head of Data Policy and AI (Artificial Intelligence) Ecosystems and operates across multiple teams and geographies in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment. The Lead will also actively engage in building and maintaining productive relationships with independent C4IR Centres. Establishing productive relationships externally and across the institution will be of utmost importance for succeeding in this role.
- Breakdown of main responsibilities:
- Scan the global horizon for highly relevant actors, data policy related initiatives that can be leveraged and amplified through the Forum’s network.-
- Generate strategic insights and foundational frameworks for business leaders and policymakers to shape a productive and society-serving data economy-
- Build, manage and mobilize high-level communities of experts and decision makers from across the Forum’s stakeholder ecosystem (industry, government, academia, international organizations, and civil society) to champion and lead ambitious, system-level initiatives-
- Champion the identification, formation, and engagement of a community of businesses shaping the data economy in collaboration with the Forum’s industry and innovator teams-
- Identify opportunities for the Forum’s global network of independent national and thematic Fourth Industrial Revolution Centres (C4IR Centres) to build on, benefit from and contribute to the Forum’s responsible data ecosystem initiatives-
- Keep initiatives on target, timeline and budget through the effective management and leadership of teams, internal and external stakeholders, budgets and processes, as well as through effective communication and reporting- Preferred requirements and experience-
- Masters (or higher) degree in public policy, management, computer science, or similar fields-
- 7+ years of experience in private or public sector, including working or consulting on relevant topics related to the creation of inclusive data ecosystems-
- Deep knowledge of and direct experience of leading initiatives in the relevant stakeholder ecosystem, including leading organizations, experts and decision makers in business, government, and civil society-
- Experience in crafting or shaping public policy (such as regulations, standards, guidelines, or other policy tools), inside or with businesses, governments, or international organizations-
- Proven record of relevant thought leadership, including published articles, presentations in international forums, and conference participations; ability to quickly develop a clear perspective on internal and external issues that have organisational impact-
