- About the role
- We are seeking a qualified and experienced Retrocession Accounting Manager to join our Middle Office team at MS Reinsurance. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing our retrocession accounting, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, compliance with regulations, and effective communication with stakeholders.
- You will be in charge for the end-to-end retrocession accounting process, including related administrative tasks for multiple internal and external retrocession arrangements. These include XoL protections, RI Quota Shares, and Fronting business originated in any of our underwriting offices.
- For retrocession accounting, we are currently still working in an environment that involves manual work/reconciliations in a fragmented system environment. However, we are going through an exciting phase of IT modernisation and transformation, and you will have ample opportunity to contribute to key system implementation projects currently underway to create a robust and highly efficient reinsurance administration platform.

- Your responsibilities- Review and enhance existing Retrocession Accounting Processes and Controls for QS, XoL and fronting arrangements-
- Design, develop and implement robust, more automated and efficient retrocession accounting calculations and procedures-
- Document processes and put strong governance and control environment in place-
- Calculate and prepare all periodic QS Retrocession Accounts for MS Reinsurance Zurich, Miami & Bermuda underwriting offices, including posting these to the ledger-
- Work closely with MS Amlin Retrocession team in the UK on shared XoL and Quota Share Protections and reviewing and posting of retro premium and recoveries to the ledger-
- Prepare periodic analysis and reconciliations for various stakeholders including internal, regulatory and Head Office reporting to MS&AD in Japan-
- Lead and mentor a retrocession accounting professional, providing technical guidance on complex retro / outwards reinsurance aspects-
- Collaborate with other functions, on various topics including business planning, underwriting performance, technical accounting and claims-
- Liaise with external parties, such as retrocessionaires and auditors, regarding retro accounting activities, audits and inquiries-
- Contribute as an SME to key internal projects, such as the implementation of SICS/DXC Assure Reinsurance, as well as IFRS17 enablement-
- Respond to inquiries and provide accurate and timely information to internal and external stakeholders regarding retrocession accounting aspects- Your profile- Solid experience (5+ years) in retrocession accounting within the reinsurance industry, with a strong understanding of retrocession contracts and accounting principles-
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to delivering high-quality work-
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide meaningful insights-
- Advanced technical and data-handling skills (e.g. Excel, VBA)-
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, and across geographies-
- Proactive and adaptable mindset, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, work independently and cope with tight deadline requirements-
