The Regional General Counsel RGC for Electrification (EL) will provide legal support to the ABB Electrification Business Area in APAC, China and India. Locations where role is based: Singapore, Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Seoul

**This position reports to**:
Global General Counsel

**Your responsibilities**:

- Actively lead and manage the Electrification Legal & Integrity team in the region, including resource allocation and budget management, to ensure efficiency in day-to-day legal and integrity operations, all in close coordination with the Division Lead Counsel and under the leadership of the Global General Counsel for Electrification.
- Support the strategy of the EL Business Area business and leadership on relevant business opportunities and ongoing matters in the region
- Provide and ensure that day-to-day legal advice and support is provided on a wide variety of EL Business Area-related legal matters, including supporting sales, commercial operations, project management, global supply chain, manufacturing, and field operations
- Provide legal advice on strategic alliances, selection of business partners, joint ventures and other organic and inorganic growth and commercialization opportunities
- Ensure proper management and close coordination in all litigation and M&A initiatives in the region
- Collaborate with Regional General Counsels of other Business Areas to ensure adequate L&I resources allocation at any given time among Business Areas where the resources are shared
- Ensure the proper corporate governance and fiduciary duties of all legal entities in the region are strongly managed and supported, in close collaboration with the CHO function.
- Lead the L&I team in the region to ensure excellence in structuring, negotiating, reviewing and drafting international and domestic transactions, including complex sales and EPC agreements, channel and distribution agreements, sourcing, share purchase agreements, shareholders’ agreements, joint venture agreements, technology transfer and other license agreements, services, consortium, teaming, sub-contracting arrangements or other commercial agreements.
- Provide support with risk reviews in alignment and collaboration with the Global General Counsel EL or Division Lead Counsels, ensuring that deals are properly and thoroughly vetted and reviewed prior to risk review meeting
- Ensure legal support and advice with regards to contract execution and interpretation, particularly regarding potential claims or other execution issues, and drafting settlement and related agreements.
- Participate in the formulation, interpretation and implementation of ABB policies to ensure consistency and compliance with contractual obligations, corporate standards and applicable laws.
- Provide legal support to the management of EL Business Area manufacturing facilities, repair shops and operations teams in the region.
- Where required, act as key account lawyer for one or more designated key customer accounts.
- Drive improvement or development of the commercial, operational and other legal processes, due diligence and legal productivity, simplicity and standardization.
- Ensure training of commercial operations, sales, sourcing, operations, manufacturing and other teams on applicable legal and integrity issues and standards.
- Keep abreast of legal developments, in particular commercial, regulatory and integrity risks that arise in respect of the EL Business Area in the APAC/China/India region.

**Your background**:

- Law degree from accredited law school with a demonstrable superior academic record and law firm training.
- Admission to the bar in one of the APAC jurisdictions (additional admission to UK/EU/US bar would be a differentiating factor)
- Significant post-qualification experience or equivalent in an internationally recognized law firm and multinational company
- Excellent written and spoken fluency in English and preferably one additional language from the region
- Strong command of international commercial and corporation law, including working knowledge of the key international conventions as well as public procurement and antitrust law
- Experience in an engineering or industrial sector is desired
- Experience working in listed company and in regulated markets
- Proven track record in leading successful teams, attracting and developing strong talent
