**Lab Technician**
**100 % **:The Department of Quantitative Biomedicine combines biomedical research, with biotechnology, and computational biology to develop the foundations of next generation precision medicine. Within this environment, we are a research group aiming to understand the pathogenic mechanisms leading to two major neurodegenerative diseases: amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). **Your responsibilities**: We are looking for a Lab manager / Lab technician to support our team for the following administrative tasks:

- Overall lab management and organization; ensuring proper lab functioning (inventories, machines in good working order, regular thawing of freezers, organize lab cleaning days).
- Direct assistance for Prof. Polymenidou.
- Biosafety Officer for chemical safety and biosafety (BSL1 and BSL2): liaison with the appropriate authorities (Ecogen) and shipping samples to collaborators according to BSL2 rules.
- Introduction of new team members to the lab.
- Maintenance and updating of webpages (Weebly).
- Responsible person for procurement process.
- Scheduling of progress report and journal club presentations, as well as different lab duties.
- Contact person for services and repair of machines/ instruments.
- Administrator for software and other tools.
- Maintenance of protocols and perform research in collaboration with other lab members.
- Lab work with human stem cells (iPSCs, NSCs) for modelling of human neurodegenerative diseases, including maintenance, expansion, and banking of existing and new iPSC and NSC lines.

**Your profile**: Research technician diploma or Bachelor's/Master's in Biology/ Life sciences/ Biotechnologies/ Biochemistry. We are looking for someone with excellent organizational skills, the ability to work independently and with a friendly, helpful and open personality.

LTK Module 2 and experience with work in a BSL2 environment are not required, but advantageous.

Additionally, experience with the following techniques would be an asset (but not required):

- Long term (months) cell culture
- Immunofluorescent staining (IF) of fixed cells
- Basic handling of light microscopes
- Basic cell and developmental biology knowledge
- Biochemistry and Molecular Biology techniques: Western Blot, Cloning, Protein Purification etc.

Language skills:
Proficiency in spoken and written English is required. German is advantageous.

Computer skills:
General knowledge of the Office package and Google docs is required.
