Halting climate change will require a monumental restructuring of the global economy. By joining MSCI’s Climate teams, you could help provide clients from across the capital ecosystem with integrated data, analytical tools, indexes and insights to form a clear view of the climate transition.

Position overview

Your key responsibilities
- Prototype and develop new physical climate risk products for the finance industry in a collaborative environment and actively seek client feedback
- Consider the estimation of direct, indirect and supply chain impacts on different spatial scales and contribute to the calibration, validation, and back-testing of new risk models
- Closely collaborate with our engineers to design and build data flows, pipelines, visualizations and platforms
- Anticipate and actively address problems/opportunities and quickly adapt to new challenges
- Implement new models according to best data and software engineering practice
- Work closely and effectively with team and stakeholders and promote best-practice team communication

Specific knowledge and skills
- Hands-on experience with impact modelling in relation to natural hazards
- Advanced data processing and software engineering skills, preferably in Python
- Strong logical thinking with a solid background in mathematics and statistics
- Experience with project and quality management
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a multi-cultural and geographically distributed research and development team
- Self-motivated, pro-active, and demonstrating an exceptional drive towards delivery

Desired experience
- 5+ years of experience in industry or academia in either natural risk modelling, catastrophe risk modelling, climate change impact research or a related field

Desired qualifications
- MSc or PhD in mathematics, physics, geosciences, environmental or civil engineering or related fields
