Are you ready to take on a high-impact role at the forefront of financial crime risk management? Barclays is seeking an experienced Financial Crime Risk Manager to lead our Private Bank International team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders, drive key risk strategies, and shape the bank’s approach to managing significant financial crime risks.
As the Financial Crime Risk International lead, you will oversee a team locally in Geneva and have management engagement with teams globally, taking responsibility for supporting the Financial Crime Risk agenda. You will play a pivotal role in leading a monthly senior oversight forum, ensuring that key risk decisions are made effectively and in alignment with regulatory expectations. The role will include reviewing and managing referrals from front office of clients who pose a heightened risk to the business. Acting as a central escalation point, you will be responsible for addressing complex financial crime queries, refining risk procedures, manage issues and assurance engagement, and ensuring consistency across the bank’s wider financial crime framework.

**Essential Skills**:
- ** Financial Crime & Risk Management Expertise**- Extensive experience in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial crime risks, particularly in high-risk client onboarding and retention.
- ** Stakeholder Management & Senior-Level Reporting**- Strong ability to engage with senior executives, lead high-profile forums, and effectively communicate risk insights across the organization.
- ** Leadership & Decision-Making**- Proven experience in managing a team, overseeing critical risk approvals, and acting as a central escalation point for complex financial crime queries.
- ** Language** - English mandatory, French strongly preferred
**Desirable Skills**:
- ** Industry-Specific Financial Crime & Risk Expertise**- Extensive experience in assessing and managing financial crime risks across various high-risk industries, such as cryptocurrency and other sectors prone to financial crime vulnerabilities.
- ** Market and Geographic Risk Awareness**- Knowledge of global financial crime risks, regional regulatory landscapes, and market-specific compliance requirements.
- ** Strong Analytical Skills**- Ability to assess complex risk scenarios, interpret data, and make informed risk-based decisions.
- ** Process & Production Efficiency** - Experience in managing workflows, streamlining risk assessment processes, and ensuring timely decision-making.
- ** Collaborative Mindset**- Strong team player with the ability to engage effectively across different functions, fostering a risk-aware culture within the organization.
**This role is based in Geneva.**
**Purpose of the role**
To assess the integrity and effectiveness of the banks internal control framework to support the mitigation of risk and protection of the banks operational, financial, and reputational risk.
**Accountabilities**
- Collaboration with various stakeholders across the bank and business units to improve overall control effectiveness through detailed documentation of control assessments, procedures, and findings.
- Identification and investigation of potential weaknesses and issues within internal controls to promote continuous improvement and risk mitigation aligned to the bank’s control framework, prioritised by its severity to disrupt bank operations.
- Development of reports to communicate key findings from risk assessment including control weaknesses and recommendations to control owners, senior management, and other stakeholders.
- Execution of reviews to determine the effectiveness of the bank's internal controls framework aligned to established and evolving policies, regulation, and best practice.
- Implementation of adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework and set appropriate methodology of assessing controls against the Controls Framework.
