**This position reports to**:
R&D Team Lead

**Your role and responsibilities**:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain vocational experience through a temporary work placement (6 months). Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB’s operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities. You will have an opportunity to work on different aspects of a sensor system for automation of electrical protection systems. The focus is on experimental design, sensor selection, signal acquisition, and data interpretation. The work model for the role is: hybrid #LI-Hybrid This role is contributing to ABB Corporate Research in Baden-Dättwil, Switzerland. Main stakeholder is ABB Electrification - Smart Buildings. You will be mainly responsible for: - Experiment design, sensor selection, and quick prototyping - Implementation of dedicated signal acquisition - Sensor signal analysis and processing - Information extraction and classification - Review of academic literature - Documentation of findings and developed solutions

**Qualifications for the role**:

- You currently pursue a degree (enrollment to 5th semester or higher is essential) in Electrical Engineering or similar field
- You are interested in the following fields: industrial sensor solutions, signal and data interpretation, and experimental lab work
- You have experience with electronics, signal acquisition/processing (preferably in acoustics), and programming (preferably Matlab)
- You are willing to learn and quickly adapt to new research topics
- You are self-motivated and have a hands-on attitude
- You are at ease communicating in English
