Part-time Development Manager, Europe

The Part-time Development Manager, Europe is a n integral part of Room to Read’s Europe Development team ,. and will play a key role in the implementation of Room to Read’s fundraising strategy throughout Europe - with a particular focus on Switzerland, The Netherlands, Germany, Italy and France primarily. The Development Manager, Europe, will focus on the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors, partners, and prospects. We are looking for a dynamic, personable, results - oriented and experienced person to help continue to grow our success in Europe. The Development Manager must be a self-motivated team player who is committed to Room to Read’s mission and ha s a track record of delivering fundraising results. The Manager can be based in either Zurich, Switzerland or in the Netherlands. This position will be part-time, working approximately 30 hours per week, and will report to the Development Director, Europe, Middl e East and Africa (EMEA). **Duties & Responsibilities**: - Manage relationships with high net worth individuals and corporate & foundation partners, generating > USD1.5 million/year - Manage a portfolio of 200+ donors and prospects in Europe, making gifts at a USD10,000+ level - Identify new fundraising opportunities and help build the individual and corporate & foundation prospect pipeline in Europe - Use sound fundraising principles to develop long-term cultivation and stewardship strategies that utilize the expertise of key Room to Read staff and leadership in deepening donors’ commitment to the organization - Build long-term relationships with donors and prospects, identifying, cultivating and stewarding their interests. - Work together with Room to Read’s global development team to: - prepare donor communication materials, including concept papers, proposals, reports, donor updates and mailing s, and additional materials as needed - develop and oversee a mid-level giving strategy focused at engaging and upgrading individual donors of USD 1,000+ - oversee volunteer chapters in Europe, including in Zürich and Paris - Partner with the Development Director, E MEA in the following areas, as required: managing high level events, support ing senior management engagements in Europe, conducting regional business planning, income tracking and forecasting, developing proposal s a nd reportin g. - In close cooperation with the Development Director, E MEA, lead the organization of major fundraising and awareness building events, both virtual and in-person, including the development of event fundraising strateg ies, soliciting current donors and prospective donors to secure tickets and tables, securing pre-committed funds for the event, securing auction prizes and local entertainment, lead on all local logistic al needs, and other duties as necessar y. - Represent Room to Read at fundraising and awareness-building events and in individual and corporate donor cultivation meetings. - Collaborate with Room to Read’s senior management team to co-manage key relationships. - Stay current with organizational strategies and program details and plans in order to recommend potential funding opportunities to donors. - Utilize specialist databases and other tools to actively manage donor cultivation, stewardship, and tracking. - Carry out ad-hoc administrative duties for the EU market. - Undertake other duties, as necessary **Qualifications:**:**Required**: - Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience - Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and German - At least 7 years of relevant work experience - Proven experience of achieving fundraising results, including successful relationship management, and income generation - Proven experience in successfully cultivating foundation, individual and corporate donors and in securing five and six-figure donations. - Proven ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and priorities, paying close attention to details and results - Public speaking and presentation skills (in-person and virtual events, proposal pitches and cultivation meetings) - Prior success working closely and building relationshi ps with diverse groups of people - Ability to be flexible and proactively problem solve - Ability work independently and collaboratively with a team - Event management experience - Effectiveness in working or volu nteering in a non-profit organiz ation that is focused on maintaining high quality work and low overhead - Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English - Adept at using database syst ems, such as Salesforce platforms or fundraising CRM’s - Legally eligible to work in either Switzerland ; no sponsorship required **Preferred**: - Project management experience - Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German and/or French **Compensation:**:Room to Read offers a competitive salary with excellent benefits.
