Idemitsu is a major Japanese energy corporation focused on utilizing our capabilities and assets towards the realization of a sustainable global society. The company in Switzerland was created to research materials for use in OLED displays but is now expanding into other strategic projects. To support our Research and Development Team we are looking for a Lab Technician Synthesis. In this role, you will report to a Chemist.

**The challenge**:

- Self-planning and accomplishment of targets according to instructions given by the superior or other Chemists
- Document synthesis details and analytical results in the electronic lab notebook on a daily basis
- Document deviations from planned activities / results and propose alternative solutions using synthesis databases
- Optimization of reaction conditions and purification processes steps to reduce synthesis time or cost
- Analysis and identification of reaction products by using appropriate analytical tools including NMR, HPLC, GC and LCMS
- Purification of compounds by chromatography or crystallisation
- Collaborate and share information with other technicians to improve working processes
- Demonstrate continuous improvement of lab work
- Ensure compliant disposal of chemical waste from working environment
- Ensure working environment is safe, clean and compliant with EHS and chemical regulations at all times
- Report all incidents and consider potential impact for others in the company
- Review appropriate safety documentation to ensure full understanding of operation and risks using chemical

**Your profile**:

- Education as synthetic lab technician
- Minimum 5 years professional experience in organic synthesis
- Experience performing analytical methods (NMR, HPLC, LCMS) and interpretation of results
- You are able to work in a results driven environment with a strong customer focus, flexible to changing priorities and work within tight deadlines
- You have good communication skills, culturally sensitive, enjoy working in international teams and you have a desire and willingness to expand your area of expertise
- English and German, spoken and written is a must
