The Issues Management Leader position is a critical role on the Regional Communications team. This role oversees franchise communications for Skin Health, Essential Health, and Self Care and leads issues management and Public Affairs in these areas. This role is responsible for the development and execution of data-driven strategies to identify, mitigate and manage issues that have the potential to impact the company’s reputation, including utilization of comms technology and analytics that drive ongoing agility and adaption of successful strategies. This individual will also collaborate with the broader Corporate Communications team to advance the company’s reputation through proactive, strategic, multi-stakeholder communications related to the company’s mission and values. This is a highly visible role that establishes a deep understanding of business opportunities and challenges, builds trust, provides counsel, and navigates a matrixed organization.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Strategic Communications: Develops Executive Leadership Counsel communications and support for EMEA Essential Health and Skin Health Franchise Leaders, and a stronghold portfolio communication strategy aligned with EMEA business priorities to enable growth
- Internal Communication/Employee Engagement: Builds and executes franchise employee engagement plan in close liaison with Cluster Communication Leads to fully inform and align employees of regional goals and progress
- External Affairs: Leads Essential Health and Skin Health Public Affairs working closely with the Global Public Affairs Team and Cluster Comms Leads. Builds Public Affairs & stakeholder strategy and engages in key regional Trade Associations (e.g. Cosmetics Europe and EDANA, etc.)
- Creates and deploys strategic and effective communications that deliver the company’s positioning on an initiative or issue, in a manner that represents the company in the most appropriate and significant way for the region
- Supports proactive and reactive PR and communications programs and campaigns around company issues and priorities for the region
- Designs and implements communications strategy and support for corporate issues in partnership with Legal, External Affairs, Investor Relations, and Supply Chain
- Helps handle media relations related to financial reporting, business performance, corporate activities and narratives, including sponsorships and local media, as applicable
- Public Relations/Reputation Management: Leads public relations strategy and media relations in close partnership with Cluster Comms Leads. Ensures connectivity to Consumer Health and maintains agency relationships with external firms on key projects as needed
- Helps Consumer Health Company prepare for and respond effectively to regional issues and crises related to the franchises
- Develops real-time assessments and points of view on when and how to respond to any emerging issues or crises
- Cascades appropriate responses across the region and to greater global audiences, both internally and externally, as appropriate
- Manages regional and franchise PR rapid response process
- Anticipates reputational issues and develops plans to lead any future issues or crises
- Supports the development and execution of crises training and drills regionally
- Identifies and escalates issues as needed. Monitors Consumer Health Company’s communications and their effectiveness in the region for alignment with corporate goals and reputation
