Accelerator Mechanical Engineer – Magnets

vor 2 Wochen

genève, Schweiz Transmutex SA Vollzeit

About us At Transmutex, we're rethinking nuclear energy from the ground up. Our mission: build the world's first accelerator-driven system to produce clean, safe, and scalable energy. It's bold, it's challenging — and it requires brilliant engineering at every step. That's where you come in. Job description As our Magnet Engineer, you'll take the lead on designing and building the magnets that make our accelerator tick. You'll be hands-on from concept to reality: modelling, prototyping, testing, and making sure our systems work reliably in the real world. ·       Design and optimize accelerator magnets (large cyclotron sector magnets, dipoles, quadrupoles, solenoids, correctors). ·       Run field simulations, crunch the numbers, and turn designs into working hardware. ·       Collaborate closely with our mechanical, beam dynamics, RF and diagnostics teams — true cross-disciplinary engineering. ·       Oversee builds with partners and vendors, making sure magnets meet spec. ·       Get hands-on with testing, troubleshooting, and iterating designs. ·       Contribute ideas that push performance, safety, and innovation further. Qualifications and professional achievements ·       Master's (3+ years of experience) or PhD in Physics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or similar. ·       Solid experience designing and/or building accelerator magnets. ·       High proficiency with magnet design/simulation tools (OPERA3D, COMSOL, ANSYS, CST, or similar). ·       Practical know-how: fabrication, assembly, measurements, testing. ·       Familiarity with accelerator tech and beam dynamics is a bonus, not a blocker. ·       A builder's mindset: proactive, curious, and ready to solve hard problems. ·       Strong communication skills in English (French is a plus). Why Join Us ·       Impact: Your work directly enables a breakthrough in safe, clean energy. ·       Ownership: Real responsibility, from design through implementation. ·       Culture: Fast growing, ambitious team with startup energy and global vision. ·       Growth: Learn fast, grow your skills, and help shape a technology with world-changing potential. If you're excited about tackling frontier problems and want to see your engineering come to life in a system that could change the energy landscape — we'd love to meet you. Terms And Conditions ·       Start date: As soon as possible, ideally Q1 2026 ·       Location: Vernier, GE, Switzerland ·       Contract: Full-time, permanent employment contract ·       Package: We offer competitive remuneration and social security, accident/disability insurance and pension plans; one day per week work from home, as well as five weeks paid vacation. Recruitment process: One to two technical interview.s with the Hiring manager and other Transmutex team members; Interview with HR for retained candidates, final interview with Management for shortlisted candidates.
