Advanced Practice Provider- Psychiatry

Major/Essential Functions Clinical Assessment & Management Conducts thorough clinical interviews and assessments with inmates, ensuring documentation is completed daily. Provides outpatient mental health care for inmates with severe mental illness or those considered high-risk. Writes clinical assessments based on sound, balanced judgment. Manages referrals to medical and mental health providers as needed. Facilitates and documents releases from Crisis Development Observation (CDO), Mental Health Observation (MHO), and Behavioral Health Follow-up (BHF) referrals. Risk & Safety Management Identifies and manages risks related to inmate mental health during all interactions. Reports threats or concerns (e.g., Offender Protection Investigations or safety threats) to security staff per Safe Prisons Plan. Prioritizes tasks with a focus on risk management. Compliance & Documentation Maintains accurate inmate/patient reminders and records. Completes all required documentation by close of business each day. Adheres to all TDCJ Health Services, ACA, TTUHSC, and Outpatient Behavioral Health guidelines. Productivity & Professional Standards Meets or exceeds monthly productivity goals set by the Behavioral Health Management Team. Responds professionally to supervision, accepting and applying feedback constructively. Keeps supervisors informed of relevant clinical and administrative issues. Professional Development Attends trainings and reads relevant materials to enhance clinical skills. Uses professional development funds for licensure renewal and continuing education. Preferred Qualifications Psych experience for Physician Assistant preferred. Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Certification required. Correctional or Inpatient experience preferred but not required. Pay Statement Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan. Required Qualifications Graduation from a Physician Assistant's training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association.
