Accounting Manager Job Description

Schnopp & Partner AG is seeking an experienced Financial Director for Accounting Operations to oversee full-cycle accounting responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage Financial Close and Reporting: Lead the month-end and quarter-end close process, including general ledger reconciliations, IFRS compliance, and financial statement preparation.
  • Support International Teams: Guide abroad office teams in resolving accounting issues independently and review financial reporting packages.
  • Review and Analyze Reports: Review monthly reporting packages for corporate offices and subsidiaries, providing insightful analysis to support business decisions.
  • Consolidate Financial Data: Prepare consolidation working papers, financial statements, and footnote disclosures per IFRS standards.
  • Provide Strategic Insights: Offer meaningful financial analysis and reporting to senior management and business leaders, supporting strategic initiatives and decision-making.
  • Mentor and Develop Staff: Provide continuous mentorship and training to accounting staff, developing career development plans and ensuring team growth.
  • Ensure Compliance: Execute and refine internal controls to maintain industry best practices, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain a strong tone at the top.
  • Manage Online Banking: Manage online banking platforms, including cash balance reports, wire transfers, EFTs, and bill payments.
  • Collaborate with External Partners: Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and service providers to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
  • Tax Compliance: Ensure tax compliance requirements are met for the corporate office.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Professional Certification: Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or CPA candidate status is required.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or public accounting.
  • International Experience: At least 3 years of experience working with international financial operations.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the mining sector is preferred but not mandatory.
  • ERP Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting processes and controls within an ERP system.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial reporting tools.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated experience leading multiple audits and collaborating effectively with internal and external auditors.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate accounting and reporting requirements to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify risks and opportunities and propose effective solutions.
