Director of Financial Strategy and Operations

For a renowned international financial institution, we are seeking an experienced Director of Financial Strategy and Operations to lead the finance department and act as the Finance Business Partner to the management and leadership team. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years' experience in a similar senior role in an international environment and a successful track record in the financial industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Strategy and Planning:
  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the organisation's goals, ensuring cost-saving measures and risk identification.
  • Lead financial forecasting, budgeting, and scenario analysis to inform business decisions.
  • Financial Management and Reporting:
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Monitor cash flow, manage liquidity, and optimize working capital to maximize returns on investment.
  • Risk Management:
  • Assess and mitigate financial risks, including currency, credit, and market risks, to ensure organisational stability.
  • Ensure adequate insurance coverage and safeguard organisational assets.
  • Regulatory and Legal Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, financial regulations, and reporting standards, maintaining a transparent and ethical approach.
  • Oversee internal and external audits, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Capital Management:
  • Manage relationships with banks, investors, and other financing partners to secure optimal funding opportunities.
  • Allocate resources effectively to maximise return on investment and drive business growth.
  • Cost Control and Efficiency:
  • Monitor operational expenses and implement cost-reduction strategies to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Drive efficiency in financial processes, implementing automation where possible to improve productivity.
  • Leadership and Team Management:
  • Lead the finance team, setting clear goals and ensuring professional development to foster a culture of excellence.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial guidance and align operations with financial goals.
  • Corporate Governance and Ethics:
  • Uphold transparency and ethical standards in financial practices, promoting a culture of integrity.
  • Support governance processes, participating in board meetings to ensure informed decision-making.
  • Technology and Systems Management:
  • Oversee the selection and implementation of financial software and ERP systems to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Utilise data analytics and financial tools to improve decision-making and drive business success.
Requirements
  • A higher degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar senior role in an international environment.
  • A successful track record in the financial industry.
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in controlling, financial analysis, and portfolio management.
  • Self-driven, able to work independently and in a team within a cross-functional environment.
  • Highly professional working style associated with a structured mind.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal/networking skills with a proactive approach.
  • Solid knowledge of Swiss finance requirements.
  • Business proficiency in German and English language mandatory.

The estimated salary for this position is €120,000 - €150,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
