Credit Risk Specialist

ING is a leading universal bank with a global presence, operating across multiple continents and countries. As a Senior Credit Risk Officer, you will play a critical role in reinforcing our Credit Risk team in Switzerland.
Our Credit Risk team is part of the local Risk Organization, which includes Compliance and Operational Risk. We have teams focused on TCF clients, Corporate clients, and ESG risk. As a Senior Credit Risk Officer, you will be responsible for:
Key Responsibilities- Performing in-depth analyses of credit applications submitted by account management, including financial analysis, business risk, structure risk, and country risk.
- Sharing risk appetite with account management to maintain a common risk culture, including providing guidance on structuring facilities (covenants, tenors).
- Maintaining an active dialogue with account management on portfolio management, client development, and upcoming proposals.
- Providing written credit opinions during the credit application process to local and/or global decision makers, highlighting key risks, mitigants, and suggestions to improve the request.
- Ensuring the quality and consistency of credit applications and checking compliance with ING's credit policies.
- Reviewing legal documentation in consultation with Legal, ensuring post-approval follow-up, and reviewing/approving risk ratings.
- Participating in projects (internal, regulatory) and deliverables (reporting, audits).
- Masters degree in accounting, finance, economics, or international business. CFA preferred.
- At least 8 years of banking experience, with at least 5 years in a credit risk or similar function (like lending analyst or account management).
- Strong knowledge of corporate banking concepts, loan documentation, and credit analysis.
- Good knowledge of trade finance, payment and cash management, debt capital markets, financial markets, and lending products.
- Very high degree of integrity.
- Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Team player who listens and contributes to the success of others.
- Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders (account management, head-office).
- Displays seniority and persuasiveness.
- Fluent in English, and preferably French or German.
- Ability to work independently, willingness to travel regularly (monthly) to Geneva.
