Job Summary:
TEKsystems is seeking a highly skilled Data Center Engineer to join our team in Zurich, Switzerland. As a Data Center Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting data center hardware and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and configure data center hardware, including servers, network switches, and storage devices.
- Plan and manage data center cabling, including fiber optic and copper cabling.
- Troubleshoot and repair hardware and connectivity issues to minimize downtime.
- Work closely with network, security, and system administration teams to integrate new hardware into existing data center environments.
- Maintain detailed documentation of installation, configuration, and hardware inventory using data center software and tools.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Perform testing and validation of installed systems to ensure they meet operational and performance standards.
- Assist in upgrades of existing data center infrastructure, including firmware updates and hardware reconfiguration.
- Provide technical support to clients and internal teams regarding data center installation and related issues.
Requirements:
- Education: Apprenticeship in Telematic, Electrician, or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in data center installation, maintenance, or a related field.
- Proficiency in cable management, including fiber optics and structured cabling.
- Familiarity with data center infrastructure management.
- Basic understanding of power distribution units (PDUs), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and cooling systems.
- Strong knowledge of server hardware, storage solutions, and networking equipment.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
