Strategic Procurement Leader

We are seeking a senior procurement leader with extensive experience in the food and beverages industry to join our group procurement team as our Director of Commodity Sourcing. The role will be based in an agile and fun working environment with plenty of opportunities for personal growth and own ideas.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and driving commodity procurement strategies that deliver supply security and quality ingredients at lowest possible cost across commodities, packaging, energy, transportation, services, and co-manufacturing.
  • Providing strategic supply base management including supplier selection, negotiations, building effective partnerships, and supplier relationship/performance management.
  • Identifying and leading the team to seek out cost reduction opportunities through continuous improvement in indirect material procurement and contracting.
  • Coaching and leading the purchasing organization to successfully deliver savings initiatives, security of supply, build strategic supplier relationships, and drive continuous improvement in procurement processes.
  • Overseeing the operation of the procurement department, including the tracking and management of all company purchases and assessing, managing, and mitigating risks in procurement processes and supply contracts.
  • Making an active contribution to Biogen's ESG agenda by driving and contributing to further expansion of recyclable packaging and increase of recycled content in our packaging at an affordable cost and carbon footprint reduction through energy buying strategies.
  • Keeping abreast of changes in market conditions and implementing changes in strategies as necessary while working cross-functionally with Marketing and R&D to ensure OTIF delivery of product, process, and technology innovations.
  • Developing initiatives that maximize benefits from emerging technologies and leveraging strong leadership qualities paired with strategic thinking and project management skills.

Profile:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field with professional certifications such as CPPO, CPPB, or CSCP highly desirable.
  • Extensive experience in all areas of procurement at a senior level including ingredients, packaging, energy, transportation, services, and co-manufacturing within the food and beverages industry.
  • Proven track record of optimizing procurement processes to achieve cost savings, quality improvements, and enhanced supplier performance through vendor management, contract negotiations, and compliance with procurement policies and regulations.
  • Strong negotiation skills, keen eye for detail, and ability to develop and implement procurement strategies to meet organizational goals.
