Project Management Director

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Project Management Director to lead our Chemtech division in Switzerland. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and managing a high-performing Project Management Team, interfacing with internal and external stakeholders worldwide, and steering complex projects that align with Sulzer's vision for growth and excellence.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Manage and nurture a team, fostering a collaborative environment and promoting continuous professional development opportunities.
  • Project Management: Oversee and drive the successful completion of projects within the portfolio and teams, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest levels of Quality/EHS.
  • Project Portfolio Management: Develop, maintain, and manage the project portfolio, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and objectives.
  • Stakeholder Management: Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, team members, and senior management.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure smooth execution of projects, including the Risk Assessment during the selling phase of projects.
  • Initiative/Lean Management: Spearhead the ongoing improvement of Processes and Methodologies within the Function.

Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of professional Project Management experience, ideally within a relevant/transferable industrial sector.
  • Higher education in mechanical or chemical engineering – another related technical discipline welcome.
  • Demonstrated ability to build cohesive teams, or a strong potential to grow into a first-time leadership role.
  • Fluency in English, additional languages are advantageous.
  • In-depth experience with Contract Management (both Customer and Supplier) and Risk Management, along with a comprehensive understanding of project management and engineering principles.
  • Excellent planning and organizational capabilities, as well as a problem-solving mindset.
