  • You must have started or be about to start a doctoral program in a university.
  • Your work at CERN must be part of your thesis work required to obtain your PhD. The award of the degree remains the responsibility of your university.
  • You must have a good knowledge of English or French.
Benefits
  • CERN will provide you with a contract of association for 6 months initially, renewable up to 3 years.
  • You will receive an allowance of 3868 Swiss Francs per month (net of tax).
  • You will be entitled to a travel allowance.

  • CERN's comprehensive Health Insurance scheme will cover you.
  • You will have 2.5 days of paid leave per month.

Please note that the 3-year maximum contract duration does not imply a time limit for completing your PhD. CERN will not contribute to any costs related to your university or reimburse tuition fees.

To apply, please submit the following documents in English or French, clearly labelled and in PDF format:

  • A CV.
  • A copy of your most recent academic transcript.
  • A reference letter from a University Professor is mandatory. You may also add a second reference from a previous internship.

Your application along with all supporting documents should reach us by November 4th, 2024 (23:59 CET). Your application may be shared with a panel of CERN experts for evaluation purposes. You may be contacted for a phone/video interview or additional information. The outcome of the recruitment process will be given by the end of 2024.
