High-Energy Physics Expert for Real-Time Reconstruction

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled expert in high-energy physics to join our team at CERN. As an Applied Physicist, you will play a key role in the development of innovative algorithms for real-time event reconstruction in the CMS high-level trigger system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop novel approaches to enhance event reconstruction at the high-level trigger, incorporating advanced algorithms, GPU acceleration, and AI technologies.
  • Collaborate closely with NGT Task leaders to ensure consistent and reliable contributions to the CMS NGT high-level trigger project.
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive validation suite to evaluate the physics and computational prowess of the reconstruction algorithms.
  • Integrate cutting-edge algorithms into the existing CMS High-level trigger reconstruction software.
  • Assist team members in adopting novel reconstruction algorithms and their products into their specific HLT paths.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to propel the project forward and contribute to the creation of the CMS HLT community of tomorrow.
Requirements
  • PhD or equivalent relevant experience in Physics or Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience in event reconstruction and software development for high-energy physics experiments.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ with practical application of the latest standards (C++17 and later) and object-oriented programming principles.
