Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) specialist to join our team at ETH Zurich's Geothermal Energy & Geofluids (GEG) Group. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and development of a custom-made, world-unique MRI experimental facility to be functional in the GEG Lab in approximately two years.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop custom MRI solutions for subsurface applications
- Conduct high-temperature and high-pressure experiments of actual geofluids inside the MRI
- Develop and maintain the MRI system, ensuring its safety and optimal performance
- Collaborate with researchers from various science and engineering fields to advance the understanding of geothermal energy extraction and subsurface fluid storage
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of MRI systems and their applications
- Experience in data acquisition, analysis, and image processing of MRI scans
- Advanced experience in control technology, such as programmable logic controllers and Python programming
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to hazard identification and mitigation
- Fluent English communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of X-Ray Computed Tomography (XRCT) and/or laser-based optical methods
- Basic knowledge of chemical reactive transport processes in porous/fractured media
- Understanding of geothermal energy extraction and subsurface fluid storage processes
