We are currently seeking a new team member to join our Basel-based team and start immediately.

About the Role

The IT RDM Biological Sample Production and Management team develops, supports, and manages IT solutions for biological research and development globally.

This team collaborates with research scientists, IT experts, and external vendors to enhance business processes and efficiency.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing IT consultancy and operational support to research scientists worldwide, focusing on three business units in Switzerland.
  • Taking over system analyst or system engineer roles for IT solutions, including configuration, design, and development.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key business contacts.
  • Collaborating with IT service teams, research units, and external vendors for stable support and maintenance of our IT systems.
  • Analysing trends, identifying issues, and addressing corrective actions with management.
  • Designing and implementing IT services, systems, or components following our defined process framework.
  • Leading and participating in global product/project teams.
  • Maintaining, optimizing, innovating, and providing third-level support for implemented solutions.
  • Troubleshooting escalated system problems.
  • Assuming System Lead (and/or Software Lead) responsibilities for complex systems.
  • Determining documentation requirements and producing necessary documentation.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field. An advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience in IT support for research and development systems, particularly in the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python and Java, and database technology like PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, and Oracle, as well as operation systems like Linux and Windows.
  • Knowledge of IT project management, preferably with certifications like CPI or Scrum.
  • Fluency in English and German (oral and written).
  • The ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team, take responsibility, and communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.
