Development Engineer R&D Elastomers Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Development Engineer R&D Elastomers to join our team at VAT. As an Elastomer Expert, you will be responsible for leading innovation projects, collaborating with internal and external customers, and extending our network of suppliers and partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead elastomer-related innovation projects, identifying customer requirements and translating them into specifications for VAT vacuum valves and elastomer/compound makers.
  • Extend our network and partnerships with suppliers, customers, and R&D institutions.
  • Acquire and document knowledge about the processing of elastomers.
  • Link, consult, and support colleagues from different business units, product management, and development in elastomer processing topics.
  • Guide the qualification process for new elastomers and manage VAT's elastomer portfolio.

Requirements:

  • MSc or PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent, preferably with process knowledge on elastomers, rubber, or plastics processing.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the elastomer industry, with knowledge of analytics and characterization of rubber compounds advantageous.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor processes beneficial, with good network into the elastomer industry and relevant research partners.
  • English and German speaker, with any other language considered advantageous.
  • Availability to travel globally to suppliers and customers' facilities (10-20%).
