Research Opportunities in Advanced Manufacturing Control

We are seeking highly motivated doctoral students to contribute to our research effort in advanced manufacturing control. The envisioned research will focus on developing novel control strategies for industrial systems, leveraging methods from machine learning, optimization, and control theory.

Research Areas

  • Online learning-based control and control-oriented machine learning for advanced manufacturing systems
  • System-level hierarchical controller optimization for industrial systems and decision-making
  • Control and task planning for advanced manufacturing using domain knowledge and expert feedback
  • Digital twin-based learning and optimization for manufacturing processes

In all cases, the results will be demonstrated on real-world advanced manufacturing and robotic systems in collaboration with industrial partners, aiming to improve the efficiency and sustainability of their products.

Your Role

You will be part of our interdisciplinary team, working closely with our researchers and industrial partners to translate your research ideas into practical solutions. As part of this process, you will support our master students, publish in scientific journals, and participate in conferences.

Requirements

You are highly motivated and dedicated with a master's degree in electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering. Programming, modelling, and data analysis skills in Python and machine learning/optimization libraries are essential for contributing to our ongoing software development efforts. Your spoken and written English skills will help you navigate our international environment.
