About the Role

This is a challenging opportunity to join the International Labour Organization (ILO) as a Global Employer Relations Expert for Latin America and the Caribbean. Based in Geneva, you will be working under the direct supervision of the Director of the Bureau for Employers' Activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and monitor the work of an ACT/EMP policy team, determining priorities with ACT/EMP management and scheduling work items with team members to ensure policy coverage and meet objectives.
  • Provide advice to senior ILO officials on matters concerning the Employers' Group, representing ACT/EMP at official meetings and conferences.
  • Ensure inputs reflecting EBMO priorities are inserted into relevant policy documents, Governing Body, and International Labour Conference documents, proposals for development cooperation, etc.
  • Represent the Employers' Group during the Governing Body and International Labour Conference, regional, and sectoral meetings, liaising with the Secretariat of the Employers' Group.
  • As Desk Officer for Latin America, provide policy and technical advice and guidance to Senior Employer Specialists in the region, checking and verifying their work plans, coordinating report preparation, recommending action to management, approving expenditures, and undertaking missions connected to development cooperation activities.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • An advanced university degree in economics, labour law, public administration, industrial relations, political science, or a related field.
  • At least ten years of professional experience in labour policy analysis and dealing with employers' organisations, including international experience.
  • Experience in a senior-level position in the Latin America region.
  • Excellent command of Spanish and a working knowledge of another working language of the Organization (English, French).
  • The ability to advise senior officials, negotiate sensitive matters, take initiatives, plan, and organise work.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is CHF 120,000, depending on qualifications and experience. The ILO offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, pension scheme, and other allowances.
