Senior Manager, Supply Chain Optimization

As the Senior Manager, Supply Chain Optimization for Sourced Materials, you will be responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships with vendors, suppliers, and strategic partners to ensure performance is aligned with company needs. Your key driver will be to ensure Biogen has continuous supply of commercialized products to our patients and implementation of innovation into pipeline products.
You will play an important role in optimizing expenses and streamlining supply chain costs, while strengthening our core capabilities to supply to market. The role will be the conduit between strategic priorities and working jointly with suppliers to improve lead-times and financials.
Responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating, facilitating, and participating in quarterly meetings with strategic partners to review supplier performance, share demand projections, and agree on a pathway forward.
- Driving innovation to integrate changes between programs, suppliers, and customers.
- Building rapport with vendors/suppliers and role-modeling teamwork with the procurement managers to improve value from contracts and relationships.
- Establishing and maintaining collaborative stakeholder relationships across the organization and evaluating performance throughout all contract phases.
- Understanding internal processes that are triggering complexity externally to our partners and driving improvements to establish Biogen as a customer of choice.
Responsibilities will include:
- Establishing and agreeing upon supplier performance KPIs (Delivery lead times, quality attributes, escalation pathways).
- Reviewing existing performance against delivery plans and quality agreements.
- Financial accountability to improved collaboration and pricing.
Responsibilities will include:
- Understanding political/geographical risks linked to supplier manufacturing sites and tiers of supplier network.
- Cross-referencing identified risks across Biogen supplier network for compounding risk nodes.
- Proactively identifying alternatives to limit risk to Biogen supply either by proposed dual sourcing approaches or inventory management techniques.
Responsibilities will include:
- Developing and managing supplier relationship strategy and engagement model in alignment with PO&T/Biogen business objectives.
- Reviewing KPIs against targets, assessing corrective actions/plans, and assigning target dates for actions to be complete.
- Identifying supply constraints and proposing alternatives to mitigate risks (short-term/long-term).
You will excel at building relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners while managing risks. You will have experience managing performance against SLAs combined with having a profound service mindset. You will think about the bigger picture and how innovation can be brought into the process.
Qualifications will include:
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, MBA, management, project management, finance, education, science, supply chain management, performance business is required, MBA preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of related experience required, including supplier relationship management experience in a GMP environment.
- Providing strong and visible leadership – strong ability to lead using indirect management and influence.
- Utilizing strategic thinking to shape the plan and gain buy-in from the sourcing and procurement organization and other stakeholder functions.
- Enlisting strong process and project management skills/ability to manage change.
- Employing strong people skills – an ability to envision, energize, and enable both the sourcing and procurement organization and other functions, and, where necessary, lead performance management decisions.
- Having an ability to work multifunctionally across organization boundaries and lead the shift from an inside-out culture to an outside-in, customer-centric organization.
- The ability to uphold the goals and culture of the organization.
- The ability to understand the values of team members, and lead and support them appropriately.
