We're seeking a seasoned Linux Systems Engineer to work with our client, a prominent pharmaceutical company in Basel. In this role, you'll be responsible for:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Linux/UNIX Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, upgrade, and build both physical and virtual systems.
  • Linux Systems Troubleshooting: Resolve hardware and software issues to ensure smooth system operation.
  • RHEL Workstation Builds: Create custom workstations for lab instrumentation, integrating hardware, installing and configuring the OS, and ensuring network visibility.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide guidance on new system requirements, create and track service tickets, and update inventory management tools.
  • Security Vulnerability Analysis: Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities in Linux systems, collaborating with vendors, scientists, and customers to devise solutions.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, computer science, engineering, or mathematics; or four years of related experience.
  • Experience: 3 years of experience in Linux and/or Unix Systems Administration in an enterprise-scale production environment.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of Linux RHEL 8/9, configuration management tools like Cobbler and Chef, and hands-on support of RHEL 8/9 systems.
  • Certifications: Red Hat certification preferred or equivalent experience required; VMware knowledge a plus.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills; self-motivated, proactive, and a team player with strong technical and problem-solving skills.
