This role is part of the Financial and Administrative Management Department and reports directly to the Manager, Library and Archives Unit. As a valued team member, you will work on archival arrangement and description projects in our office in Geneva, Switzerland.

Job Purpose

We are seeking an archival studies student or recent graduate for a 3-month internship. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing time-coded descriptions of digitized moving image and sound recordings for our historic Red Cross Red Crescent YouTube channel and shaRED, our Digital Asset Management System.

The ideal candidate should have some experience with audio-visual records and a good command of English. Knowledge of another IFRC official language (French, Spanish, or Arabic) is desirable but not required.   • Write detailed metadata for digitized audio-visual recordings.
  • Perform basic editing tasks to prepare recordings for online publication.
  • Research copyright positions to ensure compliance with publication guidelines.
  • Correct and supplement descriptions of migrated assets in shaRED.
  • Appraise and upload photographs to shaRED, including descriptions and repackage them after scanning.
Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Writing high-quality metadata for digitized audio-visual recordings.
  • Collaborating with the audio-visual archivist to ensure accurate and consistent metadata.
  • Conducting research to identify potential copyright issues and advise on best practices.
  • Assisting with the appraisal, scanning, and uploading of photographs to shaRED.
