Data Protection Manager

Salary: CHF 90,000 - CHF 120,000 per year.

We are looking for an experienced Data Protection Manager to join our team at FIFA in Zurich. As the organiser of some of the biggest and most iconic sport events in the world, we lead the way in the sport and event industry.

About the Role

  • Lead privacy by design reviews of projects, products, events or initiatives, incorporating data privacy principles into those initiatives.
  • Provide data privacy advice to internal and external stakeholders, in support of rapid-solutioning to meet identified needs.
  • Support contract negotiations on an as-needed basis to review data privacy contractual provisions with partners and third-party suppliers, such as data processing agreements and data transfer agreements.
  • Conduct or oversee legal research. Interpret and apply a risk-based assessment of how legal requirements affect new projects, products events or initiatives.
  • Keep abreast of technological developments, changes in the law, and enforcement trends, and their impact on data privacy in the world of football.
  • Develop guidance, awareness and training as needed for internal and external audiences.
  • Build and maintain strong and trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effectively work with cross-functional teams in on-site and remote locations, in an engaged, business-focused, and pragmatic manner.

Your Profile

We are looking for someone who has a strong background in data protection and a passion for the sport industry. You should have:

  • A law degree. CIPP/CIPM/CIPT certification strongly desired,
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a data privacy function within a major law firm or a multinational corporation,
  • Strong substantive knowledge of EEA/CH/US/BR privacy and security laws as well as a working knowledge of international privacy and data protection laws,
  • Experience and expertise with conducting privacy by design reviews,
  • Prior role in providing data privacy legal guidance to internal and external stakeholders,
  • Experience in monitoring privacy trends and developments and translating those into actionable guidance or requirements,
  • Strong project management, communication and organizational skills,
  • Occasional travel required,
  • Ability to work well under pressure with diligence, organization, and minimal supervision, and provide practical advice to stakeholders,
  • Must have ability to effectively conduct privacy reviews, and provide business-focused advice as a trusted partner,
  • Proven ability to develop vision, operationalize, and implement strategy,
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, understand and assess trends and developments in data privacy, explain issues in a practical, results focused manner,
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface, and develop relationships and work cross-culturally,
  • Highly motivated and proactive, with the ability to articulate the organization’s vision and to seek out areas of risk and priority,
  • Ability to consistently apply good judgment and prioritize,
  • English required, French, Spanish and/or German a plus.
