Job Description

The British Embassy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Residence Manager and Chef to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the Residence, providing exceptional service to our guests, and maintaining the highest standards of cuisine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Residence Operations
    • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Residence, including the kitchen, events, and staff.
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Residence operations.
    • Collaborate with the Ambassador, Executive Assistant, and other Embassy staff to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  • Culinary Excellence
    • Prepare and cook meals for official events and private functions, ensuring exceptional quality and presentation.
    • Develop and implement menus that showcase the best of British cuisine, while also catering to diverse tastes and dietary requirements.
    • Manage the kitchen staff, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Event Planning and Execution
    • Plan and execute official events, including receptions, dinners, and other functions, ensuring seamless execution and exceptional service.
    • Collaborate with the Events Team to develop and implement event concepts, menus, and logistics.
    • Manage event budgets, timelines, and vendor relationships.
  • Staff Management and Development
    • Lead and manage a team of Residence staff, including the Head of Housekeeping and Service, Residence Cleaner, and Residence Hospitality Intern.
    • Develop and implement training programs to enhance staff skills and knowledge.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
Requirements
  • Language Skills
    • Fluent English language skills, with a minimum of C1 level proficiency.
    • Proficiency in either German or French, with a minimum of C1 level proficiency.
  • Experience and Qualifications
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a diplomatic residence, luxury hotel, or restaurant setting.
    • Proven track record of managing high-profile events, including receptions, dinners, and other functions.
    • Excellent culinary skills, with experience in menu development and kitchen management.
    • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in staff recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.

    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions.
